Description
Just a few kilometres from Granada city centre, the Monachil river has carved one of the most spectacular landscapes in Sierra Nevada over centuries. Los Cahorros is a living rock canyon where the trail winds between waterfalls, caves, natural pools and hanging bridges swaying above the void. A route that feels like it belongs somewhere else entirely, and yet it sits right on the city's doorstep.
With an expert mountain guide, transport from Granada city centre and professional photos included, this excursion is designed so that the only thing to focus on is the trail ahead.
What you'll see and experience:
- Hanging bridges: The defining feature of the route. Crossing them with the canyon open beneath your feet and the sound of the river below is the kind of experience that stays with you.
- Waterfalls and natural pools: Snowmelt from Sierra Nevada forms a succession of pools and cascades carved directly into the rock throughout the route, with a beauty that is hard to put into words.
- Caves and narrow tunnels: The trail passes through sections where the rock closes in and you need to crouch to move forward. Just the right amount of adventure to make the route truly memorable.
- Sierra Nevada canyon views: At various points along the way, panoramic views open up over the National Park and make it clear why Los Cahorros is one of the most highly regarded hikes in Andalusia.
- Professional photos as a gift: The guide carries a professional camera and captures the best moments of the route. Photos are included at no extra cost.
